Moontide Distillery.

Moontide Distillery repositions a locally established distillery and small bar within the evolving mixed-use fabric of Broome’s Old Town. The project transforms a former residential site into a contemporary hospitality venue that responds to the climate, landscape, and relaxed coastal character of the Kimberley.

The design adopts a low-scale, site-responsive approach centred around shaded outdoor gathering spaces, natural ventilation, and strong connections to landscape. A retained mature Boab tree anchors the outdoor experience, while verandahs, deep setbacks, and integrated planting create a layered transition between the street and the venue.

Materiality and built form draw from the vernacular language of Broome, combining robust tropical architecture with a contemporary hospitality identity. The project balances indoor and outdoor occupation to support year-round use, contributing to the growing cultural and tourism character of Old Broome.
